Dear sister,
I got a letter from you a few days ago so will try to
answer.
I’ve been going to write some letters for the last
three nights. Tonight Barney came and asked me
to go to the show so I went. Last night he came
up to my tent and we got him to get his guitar and
play and sing for us. He seems very nicely. The
most of the songs he sings I have heard all the
way from Massachusetts to the Philippines but I
still like to hear him sing them.
I got the package you sent, it got here all right and
everything
was fine. I thank you very much and wish I could
send you something in return.
I just got back from another show so will try and
write a few more lines before I go to bed. The
show was Johnny come home, it was very good.
We have been having quite a few shows lately.
I sure would like to be back there and see some of
that snow. I think I would lie down and roll in it.
You know it has been almost 3 years since I have
seen any snow. I was also thinking how bad it
would be though for a fellow to come home on a
furlough and be snowed in all the time so he
couldn’t go to see anyone. That wouldn’t be so
good would it?
I got part of that joke book you sent. You said you
sent it in three parts. Well I got two of them they
were pretty good.
Hey Sis, don’t get too thick with that fellow. When
I come home Barney is coming with me and we
want you to go out with us a little ha, ha. Don’t
pay any attention to me, he must be a nice fellow.
You must of had a good time in Buffalo at someone else’s expense.
I’m still feeling as good as last time I wrote, a little
blue now and then but if you have something to
do you soon get over that. I guess you know how
that goes. I guess there is no use feeling like that
anyway, when you stop to think what shape a
fellow has to be in to get home. He has to have
one leg and two shoulders for his head to set on
he is a good man.
I guess it is time for me to close.
