Dear Laura,
I’m going to start a letter to you tonight, I don’t
know if I will have time to finish it before the lights
go out or not.
I got your letter today and was very glad to hear
from you.
I don’t know if I can stay awake or not. I was on
guard Friday night and didn’t get much sleep
Saturday night. I was runner, I didn’t get to bed
until after midnight and I had to sleep on the
supply room floor so I didn’t sleep much. Last
night I went on a pass and didn’t go to bed until
about 2:30 so I think I could sleep almost any
place tonight.
You said in your letter that we moved so much
that you couldn’t keep up with me. Well that is
right
and I think you caught up with me just in time
because we are starting packing again.
I have been having my teeth filled, I have a mouth
full of fillings. While I was in town yesterday I had
my picture taken, I wanted to smile to show the
folks what my teeth look like but I just couldn’t
smile when I got in front of the camera.
How I would like to go to a good dance again. We
went to a good show last night. It was ‘Iceland’,
you don’t want to miss it if it hasn’t been there
yet.
You wanted me to tell you what we were doing.
Well I guess you know now we are just moving.
I don’t see why they should send us across yet,
they don’t have us trained for anything yet.
I am getting sleepy so will close for this time.
With love, Gordon
