Dear Mom and All,
I tried to write to Betty this evening but it’s too much of a job unless I’m in just the right mood (I’ve been waiting for the mood for over a month). I wrote to La Verne A. last night in answer to a letter from him. He’s still in England and thought I was. So Jay is going into the merchant marines, eh? I hope he makes it, it’s about the best service to be in. There’s plenty of chance for advancement, good pay and you get around plenty. Best of luck, Kid! Bob Hope just came on and I’m trying to write and listen at the same time without much success. This is one of the best battery radios I’ve ever seen. It’s a Phillips (Dutch). I wrote a letter to Bobby R which you no doubt know, and one to Ruth Reamer, a couple of nights ago. Last night I wrote to Loretta, so Wanda’s the only one I have passed up that I really should write to. I think I’ll have my allotment raised another 20 bucks or so, now, tho’ I know Wanda won’t need it now. It’s the only way to save any money over here, though.
