Dear Mom,
I guess it’s about time I dropped you a few lines. I was waiting to hear from you so I’d have something to write about but no telling how soon our mail will come in again. We haven’t gotten any since November 12th so I still haven’t received any of the boxes. There’d ought to be loads of it when it does come through.

We got a partial pay of 15 dollars last week that kinda helped out. I have quite a bit loaned out besides what pay is coming so I’ll be pretty well off when we get paid in full.

We are getting cigarettes again now. I was lucky that I had plenty of pipe tobacco and cigarette papers for a while though. It’s a good thing that none of you folks smoke isn’t it? I’d like to see some of these new fangled pipes that the gals back there are said to be smoking now. I have a pretty good pen now, it saves me from borrowing someone else’s that doesn’t work in my left hand.
