Dear Velma and All,
I should’ve written a long time ago too, that’s the usual beginning for my letters, but unlike your letter I can’t write three or four pages and then say that there was something to write about.
The situation is getting even worse. I saw Bob Bryant for a few minutes last week, other than that I haven’t seen any of the fellows from around home recently. I don’t know the address of some of them and that makes it almost impossible to find them. This island is bigger than it looks to be on the map. They’re pretty busy now anyway and I probably wouldn’t be able to see them.
The weather has been nice lately except for a few showers so I don’t mind riding around.
The boys have come in to release me so I’m going to cut this short and get a little sleep as it will soon be time to start out again; these nights are too short.
Hope all of you are well.
Cheers, Joe
