Dear Mom,
I received two letters from you today, no’s 21 and 23 and one from Judy. She’s unhappy or something since I haven’t been writing much lately, she’s hurtin’!

I borrowed a pen to start this with but it didn’t work so good so I switched to pencil. I got a letter from Wanda saying that Uncle Richard had died. I imagine it was kinda hard on the older ones.

Do you know what Matilda’s address is? I had it once but now I can’t even remember her husband’s name. I never did get around to write to her, probably never will, because I’ve cut down on my correspondence all I can. I don’t have time to write to any one unnecessarily, I’d probably have to let up later anyhow. I did write a long letter to Peg the other day and a short one to Dot. I got Wanda’s letters OK, but after I had written to her; they are all mixed up according to the dates, some taking 6 days and others as much as 20.

I have one of dad‘s ailments – sinuses. It’s been bothering me the last couple of weeks. I think that’s what is bothering my eyes. Orval has finally given up and gone on sick leave. They tried sending him to the hospital and he argued them out of it, got some pills and has been in bed for a couple of days. He was a little delusional last night. He said, “hello”.
