Dear Mom,
I have to write several letters tonight so thought I’d make a good start by writing to you. I got a letter from you tonight and one from Mr. Miller. He wants me to write a letter to the congregation through him, which I suppose I will have to do. I don’t know whether it’ll get there by the time he wants it.
The fellow who wrote the P.S. on that last letter was Shasted (the derrick man) that you’ve heard me mention. Don’t let his first name and his good writing for you, he’s 6 Ft., about 190 pounds, all man. It’s lucky for most of us that he’s good-natured.
Oh yeah, I got a couple boxes of fudge and a box of mixed nuts from Peg and Laura today, too, which are disappearing rapidly.
Tell Bernice hello for me. If I remember correctly you said in one of your letters that the candy in that package was from her. Tell her thanks; that’s the best I can do from here.
I just ate some sliced ginger one of the fellows got from home. It was cured and packed in Hong Kong, Wow! Is that stuff hot!!
Love to all,
Wayne
