Dear Mom and All,
I received your letter with the license; I was wondering where it was and intended to ask about it again.
I’ve rather neglected my correspondence the past week. The first three nights I was reading most of the time and had ?services. Thursday and Friday. I spent last weekend in Charlotte North Carolina and didn’t get any letters written then.
I’ve heard from Fern and Betty both this week and got a couple of letters from Joe R (Robinson), one from Joe Harrington (513th), Bernice Hall, Doris Jones and Wanda.
I haven’t found Bob yet. His wife works at Dunhams, in the dry goods department, I think. Her name is Ruth if you ever happen to be in there you might look her up and find out where Bob is. I haven’t heard from Charlie, either, but I can keep track of him from fellows who knew us both.
I’ve been feeling pretty good lately though this hot weather we have once in a while kinda slows a fellow down. It goes all the way from freezing at 2:00 AM to 100° at 2:00 PM. Some change!!
You sure have had a batch of corpses up there lately. They’ve all had one foot in the grave for a long while so it shouldn’t have surprised anyone. Maybe the Harris family can keep the population from being decreased too much though.
I bought five books in Charlotte and read all but one of them. I also got a couple of those paper covered books, one I hadn’t read yet, and several magazines. Plenty of reading! I may have to go easy on the reading nights tho, I had my eyes tested a week ago and they were both 20-40 instead of 20–20 as usual.
I imagine we’ll jump again this next week, we have all our shoots packed up again and are just marking time for now.
Well, this is pretty short but it’s better than nothing and there isn’t anything else to write about so ~
Love to all,
Wayne
