I have ancestors, therefore I am…

Dear Sis,
How’s everything up there now? I should have written sooner, but just didn’t get around to it. I wrote a card to Mom last night instead of a letter. I have written to Jerry, Fern, Anita Harrington (Seattle, Washington.), Lucille, Joe, Doris and Dorothy Jones, and three to Alice. I wrote to Art Smith and Ruth R. this evening, not bad for one week.
We are moving to Alabama just across the river from here instead of North Carolina. It isn’t a bad camp, but there are no buses and taxis charge five bucks to make a trip out there from town. The address will remain the same as far as I know now.
We have been moving our chutes and equipment for the past three days, so have been busy as heck. I’m just about worn out, but I reckon it’s good for me, maybe build some muscle.
I was supposed to have made a jump Monday afternoon, but it was too windy so we just drop tested and dropped equipment. I reckon we’ll get a lot of that now. they told us today that the rigger section would be making three jumps for every one the rest of the outfit made. I guess they intend to make us earn our $100 a month.
I read in the paper last night that they were trying to put a bill through to raise paratroopers pay another $50 because of their dangerous work. I hope it goes through. They told us here that there were several T5’s (Tech Sgt 5 billets) open and that we would get them in the near future if we did good work.
Say, tell me a little more about that girl who was over to our place the other night with Rudy; I don’t even remember her name. She looked plenty nice to me.
Also tell that piece of humanity that calls herself Charlotte Camp Sell to scribble a few lines in this direction. I’m through wasting paper on gals that don’t even write me one little letter in return.
Well, I reckon I’ll sign off and go to bed. Please excuse haste, as I was afraid I go to sleep before I finished this; I’m that tired.
Love,
Wayne
