Camp Livingston, LA
Dear Dad,
Well, I finally got around to pay back that $25. Thanks a lot.
It is noon here now so I won’t have much time to write, but will scribble down what I can.
Whoops, we got rid of Chet Davis. We got a First Sergeant from ‘A’ company named Evans. He’s a nice fellow. We have several new noncom’s now and ones were sent to other companies. I guess they thought a change would do us good.
We got paid last Saturday afternoon. I was paid early as I had to drive to camp Claiborn, about 35 miles from here.
I stopped in town on the way back and took a steak dinner, cost two dollars, and a movie. Corporal Eno and Sergeant Thompson were with me, went along for the ride.
I got into a little game, the first cards I’ve played for about three months and I kind of took them for a ride. I have enough to see me through the month, my stock of toilet articles and cig’s, loaned out $35, besides the $25 to you and what I spent in town. Not bad at all out of a $50 pay.
I got mom‘s letter the other day but haven’t had time to answer it yet.
Well, I’ll have to close now.
You’re loving son,
Wayne
